Residents of Golden may wake up this spring to find a flock of bright pink flamingos decorating their front lawn, all in support of a good cause.
“Time to Flock Golden 2026,” organized by Young Life Golden, is a lighthearted community fundraiser aimed at helping local teens attend summer camp at RockRidge Canyon.
For a $25 donation, participants can anonymously send a flock of flamingos to the lawn of a friend, neighbour, or family member for 48 hours. Those who have already been “flocked” can choose the revenge option for $35, which reveals who sent the birds and allows the flock to migrate to another yard of their choosing. Residents hoping to avoid surprise lawn visitors altogether can purchase “flock insurance” for $45, guaranteeing their property stays flamingo-free for the season.
All proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the Golden Young Life Camp Scholarship Fund, helping students in Grades 7–12 attend camp each summer. Young Life leaders and local teens will be responsible for placing the flamingos throughout the community, with organizers promising to make each delivery as surprising and entertaining as possible.
Organizers also note that while the fundraiser is meant to be fun, they understand the prank may not be enjoyable for everyone. Anyone who would like a flock removed before the 48-hour period is over can contact TJ Robinson at (780) 667-2355 to arrange an earlier pickup.
Community members interested in flocking a friend can sign up through the Young Life Golden Facebook page.
