Golden Trunk Sale set for Saturday, September 6

Looking to sell, trade or give away some of your unwanted or previously loved things but can’t hold your own garage sale?

Then you’ll want to take part in the free CSRD Trunk Sale being held in the parking lot of Golden and District Centennial Arena in Golden on Saturday, September 6, 2024, from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Organized by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District’s (CSRD) Waste Reduction Program, the event promotes reusing and recycling, with one giant community garage sale. Building on last year’s success, there were 24 vendors who registered to sell items and over 300 shoppers who visited.

The event is built around reuse and, most importantly, keeping items out of the landfill.

“The idea is to load up your car with stuff you no longer need and sell it, rather than throwing it away. Rather than hosting a sale on your own, this event brings people together for a garage sale on a much larger scale,” says Graham Casselman, the CSRD’s Waste Reduction Coordinator.

“The event was hosted last year, and we are pleased to host the event again this year. We have hosted events in other communities, with vendors selling everything from boats and bikes to clothing and furniture with great success,” Casselman adds.

Anyone interested in being a vendor on sale day should sign up early. As the name suggests, you do the selling from the trunk of your car, van or back of your truck. There’s no charge to be a vendor, but you do need to pre-register as there are a limited number of spaces. Register by contacting the CSRD’s Waste Reduction Coordinator at 250-833- 5936 or gcasselman@csrd.bc.ca

The deadline to register as a vendor is Thursday, September 4, 2025.

If you don’t have items to sell at the Trunk Sale, be sure to come and shop for great bargains in the parking lot at the Golden and District Centennial Arena (1410 – 9 St South, Golden, BC).
