Help preserve Golden’s history!

Help preserve Golden’s history!

We’re excited to announce our support for the Golden Museum and Archives 2024 Summer Camp through the Cecil and Edel Memorial Fund and our Community Grants Program. Due to an unsuccessful application to Canada’s Summer Jobs Program, the Museum faced the potential loss of its beloved summer camp series. Last year, the “Taking it Back to the Future” camp provided accessible childcare for 74 children, and its absence was a major concern for many families in our community.

We need the help of Golden and Area A residents to keep this vital program running. By supporting the Cecil and Edel Memorial Fund, you can ensure the preservation of our town’s rich history and help sustain the museum’s operations for years to come.

Founded in 2008, the Cecil and Edel Memorial Fund was established to preserve Golden’s heritage and support the museum’s ongoing programs and is managed as an agency fund within the Golden and District Community Foundation. An agency fund can be initiated by local charities, businesses, or individuals committed to enhancing their community’s well-being. The annual interest generated is awarded to the designated fund recipient.

With your contributions to this fund, we can build a robust fund that guarantees stable annual funding for the museum’s initiatives.

Imagine a future where the museum’s summer camp runs seamlessly every year, without the worry of grant application uncertainties. We’ve got the 2024 summer camp covered, but we need your help to secure the future of the Golden Museum and Archives for generations to come.

Please consider donating to support this important cause. Your contribution will make a lasting impact on our community.

You can donate through our Canada Helps donation link found here: Canada Helps – Golden and District Historical Society

Or e-transfer directly to: admin@goldencommunityfoundation.ca

Thank you for helping us preserve Golden’s history!

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
