On March 7, 2024, the Golden and District Hospital held a practice simulation to prepare staff for situations where many people are involved in an accident and arrive simultaneously at our small rural centre. The simulation included Emergency Medical Services personnel who are the first responders to these serious events and work closely with the hospital staff.
Simulations are a great opportunity for everyone to learn, collaborate, and practice teamwork to provide the best care possible. Staff organize and attend these sessions with help from the Rural Continuing Medical Education Initiative, the Facility Engagement Initiative, and the Rural Surgical and Obstetric Network Initiative. The event was highly valuable, and the staff will continue these practice simulations in the future.
