Whether you’re looking for a summer job (but still want to enjoy summer) or want to supplement your income, being a lifeguard and swim instructor is a rewarding job that offers great pay and flexible hours. Enjoy the outdoors and make a difference at the Golden Swimming Pool this summer.

“The Golden Swimming Pool is such a fun place to work,” says Recreation Services Aquatics coordinator Chelsey Keefer. “It is one of the most rewarding job experiences ever. The hard work guards put in directly impacts the people we interact with daily. If that’s not the best job in town, I don’t know what is.”

If this sounds like your dream job, we want to hear from you. Not certified? No worries! You can still apply, and we will help you work towards everything you need to become a lifeguard and swim instructor this season through our “Ready, Set, Guard! Program”.

Our courses are taught by trained professionals who can help you gain the skills and confidence necessary to provide care and instruction when needed most.

High school students can earn credits towards graduation while working towards their first career.

“Experience in lifeguarding provides a huge opportunity to advance yourself in the job market,” says Keefer. “Job skills learned as a lifeguard/ swim instructor apply to many sectors. You learn and practice valuable skills that you can take to any career path you choose.”

If this sounds like an opportunity for you or someone you know, check it out on our website.

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
