Get Ready to Get Wild: 12th Annual Nature Camp Opens Registration. Registration is officially open for the 12th annual GET WILD! summer outdoor environmental education day camp.

Hosted by Wildsight Golden, Get Wild is designed for children aged 6 to 10 who aren’t afraid to get a little dirt under their fingernails.

The camp’s mission is to inspire the next generation to connect with their community and the natural world through play, exploration, and inclusive outdoor activities.

Parents looking for their kids to come home “stoked, dirty, and happy” will find exactly what they’re looking for. The program offers a diverse range of activities, including: local hikes, bird-watching, ecosystem discovery, nature-based art, swimming, sports, and adventure games. A highlight of the program is the Thursday Field Trip.

Every week, campers head out for a full day of exploration at local attractions such as Wapta Falls, Organic Sports Ranch, Golden Skybridge or Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.

This summer, camp will run weekly from June 29 through August 21. Wildsight Golden is committed to ensuring that all children have the opportunity to experience the magic of the outdoors.

Families interested in participating can inquire about subsidies by contacting the Branch Manager at golden@wildsight.ca. Spaces fill up quickly!

For full program details and to secure your spot, visit: wildsight.ca/branches/golden/programs/getwild-2/

Thank you to Columbia Valley Credit Union and the BC Community Gaming Grant for making Get Wild possible.

  • Flashback Friday 📰 Fall 2001!

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
  • A pretty great way to celebrate 25 years! 🎬🍿

The Princess Bride, popcorn, hot chocolate and a beautiful evening spent outside together.

Thanks to the Golden & District Community for hosting such a fun night!

  • 30 logging trucks, all coming together for a special tribute🌲

It’s not something you often see making its way through town — the trucks normally hard at work in the bush. But when the industry loses one of its own, the community makes the time.

A quiet but powerful display of just how significant the forestry industry is, and the kind of community we have here.
