Operation Christmas Secret Santa at Durand Manor: In previous years, this wonderful tradition has brought community members of all ages together. Starting November 29th, community members are welcome to stop by Durand and pick a tag off the Christmas Tree that is located at the front entrance. These tags provide ideas/suggestions for gift ideas for the residents at Durand. When getting the tag, leave your name and phone number in the event we need to contact you. Once you have selected your tag, please purchase your gift, have it wrapped, include your tag and bring them to Durand by December 13th. We will be giving the residents their gifts during our Christmas party.
The gifts are then dispersed to our residents during Christmas and it is also a great way for younger children to learn the gift of giving.
Golden Christmas Bureau: Our aim is to ensure that all families can provide a holiday experience for their children through the generosity of the residents of Golde. Our Christmas program allows us to provide families with access to donated toys on our “shopping days”; Monday, December 9th and Tuesday, December 10th.
Applications are available through the following organizations: CBAL/Settlement Services, Golden CCRR, Golden Family Centre, Golden Women’s Centre and the Golden Food Bank.
Each application will be personally handled with care and kindness to ensure we help as many families as possible. Parents/caregivers can come to our holiday “free” store and will be able to personally select a primary new gift for each of their children, a stuffed toy, a book and stocking stuffers. This allows families to experience Christmas with dignity.
We are asking members of our community to open their hearts again this year. Any gift you wish to give can be dropped off at participating merchants up to December 7th; the Jungle Room, Moon River Gift Gallery, the Golden Family Pharmacy, the Golden Dollar Store (407 Boutique). Columbia Valley Credit Union will also accept new/unwrapped gifts.
