The Golden-Field RCMP detachment is hosting an open house on Sat., July 15, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will take place at the detachment at 1419 11 Ave. North in Golden and will go on irrespective of weather conditions.
At the event, community members will have a chance to meet and interact with the officers who serve the region.
The afternoon will include food and family activities. Visitors will have an opportunity to check out the facility as well as the detachment’s vehicles and equipment.
“We’re hoping to have different sections coming out,” Nadine Kinshela, the Golden-Field RCMP detachment services supervisor, told the Star.
While details are yet to be finalized, the detachment is currently expecting to have police dogs and collision deconstructionists among the demonstrations.
A recruiting booth for the detachment’s dispatch services will also be set up and anyone interested in joining the team is encouraged to visit it to learn more about opportunities with the RCMP.
The event will also have a raffle that will support Cops for Kids, an RCMP-wide organization. Prizes have not yet been announced for the raffle but are expected to be shared closer to the event’s date.
Community members are encouraged to keep up with the Golden-Field RCMP’s Facebook page to stay up to date with information about the event and the detachment.
