Four Points Book Review: These Summer Storms

Four Points Book Review: These Summer Storms

These Summer Storms by Sarah MacLean

Donโ€™t be fooled by the title or this gorgeous cover, both of which pulled me in. Before I read the synopsis, I thought this would be a book set in a house on a beach about a tumultuous summer romance. I was right that there is a house. And a beach. And a very, veryโ€ฆsteamy romance. But thatโ€™s not nearly all.

This book is the story of an exquisitely complicated family headed by a powerful, wealthy and secretive man. With lifestyles and investments to protect and images to keep up, everyone is expected to come home when the patriarch dies suddenly. Thatโ€™s when things go sideways and a twisted inheritance game begins. Everyone has something to lose and a lot of money to gain, making it time for everyone to decide what is most important.

This is one of those books that stays in your mind when youโ€™re doing anything but reading it. The intricacies of families, the differences in each of the characters, the relationships that are revealed and even appear to be destroyed, just add to the intrigue of this modern-day family saga.ย

A good read for any time of year, this one had me glued to my comfy chair in my favourite reading spot until the last sentence.
