A Busy Start to 2025 with Collaborative Efforts
The Golden Chamber of Commerce has hit the ground running in 2025, with a packed agenda full of initiatives, advocacy, and community-driven efforts. From planning events and growing member benefits to ongoing immigration advocacy, the team has been busy organizing and strategizing for the future of the local business community.
A standout focus this year is the development of the Youth Mentorship Program. We are working on video content that highlights local businesses in the top industries of interest for our local youth – with an anticipated outcome of mentorship opportunities in these fields.
Other key events in the works include a Culture and Cuisine event (planned for May), which aims to bring together the community through food and culture, as well as a She Means Business networking session scheduled for International Women’s Month on March 19.
A primary advocacy effort for the Chamber involves the region’s immigration needs. We have been in frequent dialogue with government representatives and community stakeholders.
Advocacy meetings have included discussions with MLA Scott McInnis and MP Mel Arnold, as well as a Regional Immigration Group, Resort Municipality Chambers Group, Kootenay Boundary Chambers Group and our Local Immigration Table. We had CBC coverage on the Chamber’s efforts, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration in immigration.
Efforts have also begun in Builders/Developers Advocacy and meetings have laid some groundwork for strengthening the business environment. Collaboration with the Town of Golden and its development teams aims to remove roadblocks to expansion while enhancing transparency and accountability. These conversations will be ongoing and through transparent communication we believe that solutions can be found.
The Chamber has also been reviewing its finances, including year-end financials and budgeting for 2025. We are setting clear goals for the upcoming year, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to support continued growth and member engagement.
The Chamber is always working to build stronger ties with key stakeholders. This includes meetings with various local organizations and planning for future partnerships with regional institutions like the College of the Rockies.
The Chamber’s commitment to improving community relations and advocating for better policies is evident in the many meetings scheduled to discuss issues that are affecting our community and region overall.
The Golden Chamber of Commerce continues to be a central force in the business community, uniting local enterprises, advocating for policy changes, and facilitating connections that strengthen the region as a whole. With more events and initiatives on the horizon, it’s clear that 2025 will be a year of growth and collaboration.
We remain committed to supporting local businesses and fostering a vibrant community through strategic planning, advocacy, and engagement.
