RFE Alarms Recognized on the International Stage at Resideo CONNECT 2025

An Invermere-based security company with deep roots in the Columbia Valley is receiving international recognition for its work. RFE Alarms has been named Residential Installation of the Year at the 2025 Resideo CONNECT Conference, a global industry event that celebrates excellence and innovation in residential and commercial security, fire prevention, and HVAC technologies.

The annual conference was held October 23 to 25 at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles and drew approximately 500 attendees from around the world. Participants included leading security professionals, technology partners, and award recipients from across the United States, as well as Brazil, Mexico, Hawaii, and other international markets. In addition to technical training and educational seminars, the event featured themed networking dinners, a costume party, and a headline performance by America’s Got Talent magician “Mastermind.”

RFE Alarms earned the top residential installation honour for a project completed earlier this year in the Columbia Valley. The winning installation was a highly customized, fully connected home system built using Resideo technologies. Judges cited the project’s technical complexity, innovative design, and seamless integration as key factors in the decision, noting the system’s ability to deliver both advanced functionality and a user-friendly experience for the homeowner.

The award places RFE Alarms among a small group of companies worldwide recognized for excellence in residential system design and installation, and marks a significant milestone for the Invermere-based business.

“This award is truly a reflection of our amazing team,” said owner Scott Flowitt. “I’m honoured to continue my father’s legacy and help secure the community that has supported us since 1983.”

Founded more than four decades ago, RFE Alarms has grown from a local security provider into a company known for adopting and implementing advanced technologies, while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and community connection.

General Manager Stefan Kuhn said the award-winning project pushed the team to expand both their technical and creative capabilities.

“This project challenged us to push the limits on design, customer experience, and overall user-friendly setup,” said Kuhn. “Our team delivered with innovation, precision, and unwavering commitment. Our advanced capabilities allow us to solve complex problems quickly, and the result is a solution that gives our customers greater reliability, performance, and confidence in their systems.”

With this latest recognition, RFE Alarms continues to strengthen its reputation as a tech-forward leader in the Columbia Valley security industry, demonstrating that companies based in smaller communities can compete at the highest levels on the international stage.

Why This Matters Locally

While industry awards often focus on big-city firms, RFE Alarms’ recognition highlights the strength of locally owned businesses in the Columbia Valley. Competing against companies from major urban centres and international markets, the Invermere-based team demonstrated that advanced technical expertise and innovation are not limited by geography.

The award also reflects long-term investment in skilled local employment and training. Projects of this complexity require technicians with a high level of certification and experience, helping ensure that residents and businesses in the region have access to modern, reliable security solutions without needing to look outside the valley.

For customers, the recognition provides added confidence that systems designed and installed locally meet the highest international standards. For the broader community, it reinforces the value of supporting homegrown businesses that continue to evolve, adopt new technologies, and represent the region on a global stage.
