Golden Eagle Express Update – September 6, 2025
The Kicking Horse Mountain Resort lift maintenance team has finished installing new hanger arms on all gondola cabins and has completed all required testing and system checks. The safety authority conducted the official return-to-service inspection and has now given clearance for the Golden Eagle Express to resume operation.
The lift will reopen to the public at 10:00 AM on Sunday, September 7.
We want to extend our sincere thanks to our maintenance and operations teams for their hard work and diligence in completing this process safely and thoroughly. We also want to thank our community and guests for your continued patience, understanding, and support throughout this period. We are so excited to be heading back to the top of the mountains!
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Operations
With the reopening of the Golden Eagle Express gondola, the following activities and outlets will be available:
Golden Eagle Express Gondola – Open from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM daily (last download at 4:00 PM)
Eagle’s Eye Restaurant – Tentative opening is Monday, September 15
Alpine Hiking Trails – Last download at 4:00 PM
Alpine and Mid-Mountain Bike Park Trails – Last ride up at 3:30 PM
NOTICE: The Via Ferrata will not be operating this summer. We look forward to guiding you to the peak again in summer 2026!
Eagle’s Eye Restaurant – Tentative opening, Monday, September 15 – Construction Notice
Please note that the main entrance to the Eagle’s Eye Restaurant is currently under construction. Until that work is complete, the restaurant will be accessed by walking around the south side of the building to the patio. This route will be clearly marked for guests.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort – Hiking
Alpine hiking is now accessible via the Golden Eagle Express with the purchase of a Sightseeing or Adventure Pass lift ticket. Guests may also continue to hike from the top of the Catamount Chair via It’s A Ten and Showdown trails.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort – Alpine Biking
With the gondola back in operation, the full bike park is now open. The Mountain Safety and Trail Crew have been hard at work getting trails tuned up. A few rebuilt trails remain closed while final work is completed — please check the daily trail report and obey all trail signage and closures.
Community Day – Golden Eagle Express Is Back! – Sunday, September 21
To celebrate the return of the gondola and thank our local community, KHMR will host a Summer Community Day on Sunday, September 21. Lift tickets will be available to Golden and Area A residents by minimum donation, with all proceeds going to the Golden Food Bank.

MTB Lift Tickets – Starting at $10 (individual) / $20 (family)
Retail Discounts – At the Performance Rental Centre and Outfitters Store
