Call for applications: Join the ReDi Grant Selection Committee

ReDi Grant Selection Committee: The Town of Golden is seeking two new members to join the ReDi Grant Local Selection Committee, which oversees the distribution of more than $300,000 annually to community projects through the Columbia Basin Trust’s ReDi Grant Program.

The committee is made up of nine members, including Town Council representatives, the Golden and District Community Foundation, and local residents. One of the open positions is reserved for a resident of Electoral Area A, while the other is open to any Town or Area A resident.

Meetings are held on weekday evenings, typically one in late November or early December, one in mid-February, and two to three in March. The first meeting for the 2025–26 cycle is scheduled for November 26 at 5:15 p.m.

Serving on the committee is a chance to help shape local funding priorities and support community projects like the Gentlemen’s Leisure Club’s paved pump track (pictured above), which received nearly $58,000 through the program in 2020.

Applications are open until Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Details on eligibility and how to apply are available at www.golden.ca/joinReDi.

  • Flashback Friday 📰 Fall 2001!

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
