Scouts Canada – We’re excited to announce that a new Beavers colony, under Scouts Canada, is launching in Golden this fall! This program is designed for children ages five to seven and aims to offer fun, adventure, and learning through outdoor activities and teamwork.
Led by Scout Leaders Vikki Jefferson and Derrick Murphy, the program is currently seeking volunteers to help expand the number of spots available for local children. The more volunteers we can secure, the more youth we’ll be able to welcome into the group.
We believe this Beaver colony will be a fantastic addition to our town, reflecting Golden’s adventurous spirit and deep connection to nature. Our goal is to inspire kids to enjoy the outdoors, work together, and develop confidence through shared experiences and challenges.
We’ll be hosting a parent information night in late summer 2025, where we’ll share our plans for the group, sign up volunteers, and answer any questions.
Community involvement is essential to making this program successful and inclusive. Spots for the program will open at this event, and parents can sign their children up that evening.
Enrolment for the program is $270, with financial assistance available through the No Scout Left Behind subsidy program. All personal information submitted through the subsidy process is kept confidential and is intended to ensure that finances are never a barrier to participation. We are reaching out to local businesses for donations of $25 to help lower the costs of the program.
Beaver Scouts is an inclusive program open to all children. It’s a place to explore, make new friends, and embark on great adventures.
From nature walks and hikes to crafts, games, and tree planting, kids learn valuable life and social skills while having fun. At its heart, Beavers is about teamwork, cooperation, and building self-confidence.
We are so thankful to all the Scout Leaders and volunteers who participated in the Golden Beavers and Scouts groups in the past and have stored and cared for the gear over the last five years. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to late summer.
