Town of Golden rolls out Amilia app – easy registration for rec programs

Golden is stepping into the digital age of recreation with its brand new Amilia app, giving residents a faster, more convenient way to register for recreation programs. Whether you’re at home, at work, or on the go, the new mobile option brings all the tools you need right to your fingertips.

Why you’ll want the app

• Register anytime, anywhere — skip the browser hunt. Sign up for your chosen class or program straight from your phone or tablet.

• One family, one account — manage registrations for kids, partners, even yourself, all under a single login.

• Secure online payments — no more lining up, making calls, or juggling cash. Pay within the app with confidence.

• Saved login info — you won’t have to re-enter usernames or passwords over and over again.

• Everything in one place — browse program calendars, buy punch passes, view drop-in schedules — all through the app.

• On-the-go access — whether you’re at the rink, at the pool, or just stuck in line at the grocery store, you can register in seconds.

What kinds of programs and facilities are on offer

Golden’s recreation department provides a wide selection of programs for all ages and abilities. You’ll find everything from team sports (like basketball, volleyball, and badminton) to swim lessons, open gym, drop-in skating, and pool programming.

Facilities involved include the Mount 7 Rec Plex, which houses gym space for basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and more — complete with a stage, change rooms, kitchen, and seating.

Also, the Golden & District Arena offers ice skating, hockey, figure skating and public skates.

If you want to see what’s currently running, you can check the Amilia site directly — it lists programs under filters like “Age,” “Location,” “Rec Plex,” “Arena,” and “Camps.”

How registration works

You can register online or now through the app. Alternatively, if you’re old school, you can still do it by phone (250-344-7011) or email.

Some refund/cancellation policies to note:

• If you hold a multipass, you can cancel online up to 30 minutes before a program begins.

• If you don’t have a multipass, to get a full refund, you’ll need to cancel at least 24 hours before a program starts.[1])

Also, registration opens a week prior to the class start and remains open right up to 30 minutes before a program begins (if space allows).

Why this matters

This app isn’t just about convenience — it’s about making recreation programming more accessible. People who’re busy, on shift work, or juggling family responsibilities now have an easier path to getting active, staying healthy, and participating in community life.

It also helps the recreation team better manage programs, track attendance, and streamline operations.

Introducing this app at this time also aligns well with Golden’s broader recreation and infrastructure plans. The upcoming aquatic centre, for example, will bring a major new amenity to the community — and efficient registration tools like Amilia will be crucial once that facility is operational.

What you should do next

1. Head to golden.ca/recprograms to see the full recreation schedule, program breakdowns, facility descriptions, and registration details.

2. Download the Amilia app

3. Log in, set up your family profile, browse programs, and register!

4. If you have questions or problems, you can still call or email the recreation department for help.
