Golden’s U15 girls’ hockey team was undefeated to captured gold, while the U13 squad brought home silver from WickFest in Calgary, held November 7–9, 2025. These talented athletes have plenty to celebrate.
Golden Minor Hockey has championed female hockey for the past three years. In the inaugural season, overwhelming interest led to the formation of one large team combining U11–U13 players.
For many, it was their first time on the ice—but their passion for the game grew quickly. Soon, the program expanded into two dedicated teams: U15 and U13. With outstanding coaching and unwavering commitment, both teams achieved remarkable success at this premier event.
Now in its 16th year, WickFest is one of the world’s most respected girls’ hockey festivals, attracting thousands of athletes annually for a multi-day experience blending competition, skill development, and empowerment.
Founded by four-time Olympic gold medalist and Hockey Hall of Famer Hayley Wickenheiser, WickFest aims to unite girls of all ages and skill levels through hockey while fostering confidence, personal growth, and lifelong connections.
Come out next weekend on Saturday, November 22 and Sunday, November 23 to our local Plywood palace to cheer on the U15 girls in their home tournament.
