Kootenay two person classic a resounding success

Once again, the annual Kootenay Two Person Classic showcased some impressive talent and community spirit over at the Golden Golf Club. With 144 players participating, including 46 members and 98 non-members, many from out of town, the event was a resounding success.

Participants praised the condition of the golf course and the feedback from all players was overwhelmingly positive.

One of the highlights of the tournament was Dean Andrews’ incredible hole-in-one on hole #7 on Saturday, adding excitement to the event.

The competition was fierce, and several local players emerged victorious:

– Overall Low Net: Rusty & Lynn Jmaiff

– Male-Female Division 1st Flight: Wade Persson & Bonny MacLeod

– Male-Male Division Championship Flight: Mike Dhami & John Desrosier

– Male-Male Division 1st Flight**: Paul Coatesworth & Mike Robitaille

– Female-Female Division: Margie Hill & Eleanor Nelson

Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their outstanding performances. The Kootenay Two-Person Classic continues to be a cherished event in our community, bringing together golfers of all skill levels for a weekend of camaraderie and competition

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
