I love our funny little town.
On Monday, June 23, the Golden Secondary School graciously hosted the 2nd Annual Golden Summer Olympics.
The kids had fun, the teachers had fun, and the parents had fun. The real story, though, is about the volunteers in Golden.
The volunteers here are reliable. You can count on them. Plans are made and events get organized in passing, at the grocery store, the hardware store. The volunteers today were the best. As each name signed up, I made a silent cheer. Goldenites that you could trust to figure out any situation.
One friend whom I had mentioned the Golden Summer Olympics to in passing texted last night to see if I wanted help. From you, Sir, definitely!
A volunteer who asked to man a quiet station, so he could work remotely while volunteering. People who signed up to chaperone their childโs class ended up recording results all day.

Volunteers who, for the most part, had to rearrange their work life to help our kids have fun. There was a last-minute entry for the relay, a parent team made up of one mom and three dads, because the grade 6 boys were talking smack.
It was a beautiful day. Watching our kids try their hardest, cheer each other on, and just enjoy themselves.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it a special day. A big thank you to CVCU and Save-On Foods for sponsoring the event!
