Columbia River–Revelstoke MLA Scott McInnis has been given expanded responsibilities within the BC Conservative Party’s Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet.
McInnis will now serve as:
• Deputy Shadow Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, sharing the portfolio with party leader John Rustad.
• Shadow Minister for Tourism, Resort Municipalities, and the Columbia Basin Trust.
• Critic for the Columbia River Treaty, a portfolio previously held by MLA Pete Davis (Kootenay–Rockies).
McInnis said the new roles align closely with the priorities of his riding, which includes five of BC’s 14 resort municipalities. He emphasized his commitment to tourism, sustainable growth, and strengthening community partnerships.
He will continue working alongside Rustad on Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, calling the file “intense, sensitive, and demanding.” Rustad praised McInnis as “a strong MLA” with a deep understanding of the issues.
McInnis also congratulated John Rustad on retaining his leadership of the BC Conservative Party, noting Rustad’s 70.66% support in the recent leadership review. McInnis said the renewed internal organization gives the Official Opposition “a fresh focus” as they tackle BC’s economic, housing, and healthcare challenges.
