Emergency Information Update: July 25, 2024 at 4:30 p.m.

There are currently 28 properties within the Evacuation Order Area on the west side of the river near Parson and 1,044 properties within the Evacuation Alert Area south of Champagne Rd. to the Parson area. Highway 95 has been reopened, with access restricted in Evacuation Order areas.โฃ

BC Wildfire reports that the fire is tracked at 5,445 hectares. While the size had not been tracked in 24 hours, the majority of this growth happened as a result of yesterdayโ€™s cold front.โฃ

No injuries or loss of life have been reported for residents or incident responders.โฃ

Based on initial assessments, approximately 6 homes have been lost in the Rauch Rd. area. Assessments are still underway to determine the extent of the damage. โฃ

The Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) in Golden remains activated and incident responders continue to work on the fire and in the surrounding areas to monitor and investigate potential hot spots and activity. Please note that the EOC phone will not be monitored between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m.โฃ

We will continue to provide updates as they become available. Remember that wildfire situations can evolve quickly, be prepared and stay tuned to official news sources.

For information regarding wildfires in the Golden area and across the province, visit www.bcwildfire.ca or download the BC Wildfire Service app. For specific questions regarding BC Wildfire operations, contact the BC Wildfire public information line at 1-888-336-7378.โฃ

Now, 25 years later, itโ€™s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
