RCMP in the Columbia Valley are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Elizabeth Stewart.

Stewart, also known as Elizabeth Reimer, was reported missing to the Columbia Valley RCMP on February 11 after family reported they had not seen her since mid-January. While it is not uncommon for Stewart to not speak with members of her family and friends for extended periods of time, there has been no activity on her banking or social media accounts and her vehicle has not moved for several weeks, which is now causing those close to her concern.

Stewart is known to have parked her vehicle at a residence in Invermere on January 14. She was captured on video surveillance walking away, after parking her vehicle. There have been no known sightings of her since.

Stewart is described as a 76-year-old Caucasian woman, 5’7” and 160 lbs. with blond hair and green eyes.

She was last seen wearing a two-tone grey jacket with black pants.

RCMP have followed up on a number of investigative avenues however Stewart remains missing.

If you have any information about Stewart’s whereabouts, please contact the Columbia Valley RCMP at 250-342-9292.

On February 11, just before midnight, the Golden-Field RCMP received a report that two males had attempted to rob another male, at knifepoint, at a hotel room on the Trans-Canada Highway in Golden.

We immediately responded to the call, however the two suspects had already taken off on foot when we arrived, says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. Extensive patrols were conducted and we were able to locate two males, matching the description, walking downtown towards the alley behind 9th Avenue North.

The two males then disappeared from sight, but were located shortly after, on the roof of a 9th Avenue N. business.

The two males, a 17 year-old and 19 year-old from Golden have been charged with attempted robbery. Both appeared before a judge and were released on numerous conditions.

Golden Fire Rescue

Last Wednesday started Golden Fire Rescue’s week of responses with a call to assist with child birth.

Responding members were stood down before arriving at the patient’s address.

Thursday February 14 began with a power line on fire at the Town Office. Crews actioned the fire, investigated, and utilizing a thermal imaging camera, ensured there was no spread of heat or fire to the building. The office was able to resume normal operations at regular hours.

Later that day, members responded to a medical call at a local hotel, followed by a call for breathing problems. Responders were summoned to a local business early in the morning of Sunday, February 18 for a report of a patron suffering seizures, however the patient had left the premises prior to our arrival.

Golden Fire Rescue also provided a fire safety watch throughout the MasqueParade event in Spirit Square on Saturday evening.
