Albert Wynne Ruttan passed peacefully, aged 78, in Golden. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, and his children, Lynne Sandover, Patricia Streeter, Gordon (Jackie) Ruttan, Douglas (Emily) Ruttan, Carol (Jamie) Fitchett, Tracey Ruttan (Lenny), 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Al served in WWII with the Royal Canadian Navy Reserve on HMCS Robert. He had many stories, as the HMCS Robert was the first ship to liberate Hong Kong, followed by the British 11th fleet. Following WWII, Al served with the RCAF, where he met his wife of 49 years. He also served with the Rocky Mountain Ranger Cadet Corps.
He was a long-time CP Rail employee in Revelstoke and retired in Golden after 30 years of service. In his later years, Al pursued his hobbies of Cadillacs, fixing air conditioning and pocket watches, amongst many other activities. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Cremation by Al’s request, a private family service will be held at a later time.
