Alex Brook passed away on Nov. 27, 2025, with his family by his side. Born in Banff in 1954 to Irene and Glen Brook, he spent his first few years living in warden cabins in Kootenay and Yoho Parks, before settling in the town of Field, BC.
After completing school, he would start a career with Parks Canada. His first job was in Yoho working with a trail crew, where he would help with the building of the Iceline Trail, among other things. Also, while working in Yoho, he would meet Cathie, and soon after, the two would marry and start a family together.
From Yoho, they moved to Pacific Rim National Park, where he would work maintaining the West Coast Trail. After which, he worked for Kootenay Park. From there, they moved to Dawson City in the Yukon. There, he worked for the Territorial government for the remainder of his career.
Alex loved his family, the outdoors, and building trails.
His wit and keen sense of humour will always be remembered.
Alex was predeceased by his daughter, Hannah.
He is survived by his wife Cathie, daughter Marie โ Claire, son Alastair, and brother Sid [Judy].
