December 3, 1985 – November 15, 2025
Dale, aka Tom, was born in Calgary, AB and passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 39 years. The first nine years of his life were spent in BC. The bulk of the next nine years was spent in Calgary. He then moved back to Golden, BC.
During his adult years there, he enjoyed numerous outdoor activities including sledding, snowboarding, skiing, fishing and golfing. He even did a tandem sky dive.
His employers included Safeway, Joey’s Seafood, 7-11, UPS, Save-On-Foods, B.C. Forestry as a seasonal firefighter, and at Louisiana Pacific.
Tom was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Joe (1993), and Olga (Polly) (2016) – he had a special bond with both, as he was the first grandchild. Polly became even more important after his diagnosis with MS in 2015. She took him shopping, out for coffee, and they spent hours visiting. Her passing left a huge void in his life; Uncle Rob (1993) and Auntie Dawn (2021), who both provided countless hours of support and companionship for Tom when he was a young boy; and his maternal grandfather, Pat Hagel (2016).
Tom leaves behind family members including his mother, Lana (Lynae) Hagel who will grieve his passing for the foreseeable future; father, Pat (Denise), sister Justine, and brother Devon McDonald; aunts and uncles include, Rick (Brigitta) McDonald, Jody (Bill) Pengelly, Dean (Simone) Hagel; maternal grandmother, M. DenBoer; step grandmother, lvone Hagel and her family members in Calgary and Saskatchewan, including God parents Dan (Jeannie) Clifford, Jackie (Glenn) Mark; numerous cousins; the Miller’s; and countless friends.
