Karen MacDONALD

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Karen MacDonald. In 1971, she married her high school sweetheart at the age of 17. They had two children, Lee and Lisa, giving her four grandsons that she was so proud of. Jesse, Josh, Logan and Jake.

She raised Jesse to be the fine man that he is today.

Christmas was her favourite, making huge dinners for family and anyone who needed a warm place and a hot meal.

Karen was diagnosed with cancer in 2014. This did not deter her from living life. She still rode on the Harley and went hunting with her man. She battled and conquered. She loved good food, children and animals.

It has been an immense privilege to have been Karen’s sister-in-law for the past 55 years. She was a force of nature, known for an incredible sense of humour and boundless generosity. She was always the first to offer a helping hand, whether it was a word of encouragement or a plate of meatballs. Her devotion to family was fierce.

She left the world as she lived it, with grace and kindness. The world is a little less bright without her. But her memory will continue to inspire us.

I have a list of what cancer cannot do;

• I cannot cripple love. • It cannot shatter hope.

• It cannot corrode faith. • It cannot destroy peace.

• It cannot kill friendship. • It cannot suppress memories.

 • It cannot silence courage.
