Mrs. Maria de Lourdes Raposo passed away at the Golden & District General Hospital on Wednesday, June 13th, 2007, at the age of 65 years.
Prayers were recited from Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Golden, on Monday evening, June 18th, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday afternoon, June 19th, with Father John Kellogg as celebrant. Pallbearers were: Al Head, Harry Schafer, Francisco Silva, Mario Mastroianni, Tony Mastroianni and Deryck Jones. Interment followed in the family plot of the Golden Community Cemetery.
Maria was born in Pico de Pedra, São Miguel Acores, Portugal, on January 24, 1942, and has been a resident of Golden since 1972.
She loved being at home, taking care of her family. Maria was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for her family and friends. Family was very important to Maria, and she loved to spend time with her grandchildren, whom she adored.
Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband, Agostinho (Gus), in 2006. She is survived by her son Emmanuel (Alyson) of Golden and daughter Sandy (Al) Head of Golden; grandchildren: Alyna, Austin and Sheldon; one sister, Maria De Sousa of Golden; mother-in-law Maria; one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were in the care of Hindman Bowers Funeral Home, Golden.
