It is with a heavy heart that we announce Rudy Hetu passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 12, 1950, in McLennan, Alberta, Rudy was a strong-willed man, full of determination, kindness and strength, with a deep devotion to providing for his family.
Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Joanne; their children, Chantalle, Daniel (Jamie), and Corrine (Calvin); his cherished grandchildren, Ryla, Zachary, Brilynn, Tia, Jack, Bear, Isabelle and Nikolai; siblings Simone and Robert (Viola); and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church in Athabasca, AB. followed by refreshments and fellowship.
Cremation has taken place, and interment will be at a later date in Jean Cote, AB.
The Hetu family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Extendicare and Boyle Wildrose Villa for the compassionate care, kindness and support that they provided to Rudy and his family.
