Next Thursday is our last Summer Reading Club session.

Thank you to all the wonderful children who have participated.

I still have a few reading records left for children ages 5 to 12.

They mark down every time they read (or are read to) and bring you it back to the library at the end of the summer to win a prize.

Next Thursday is also our last session of “Let’s Draw!” our drop-in drawing program for adults.

But we will still have a couple of fun drawing activities for people of all ages.

Bring in a drawing of a gorilla before Sept. 1 for a chance to win a copy of Code Name Bananas by David Walliams.

I’m also looking for volunteers to participate in producing another StoryWalk for this fall.

Finally, you are invited to share feedback and suggestions on the future of your library.

We will be having a strategic planning public engagement session from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 22.

We also have surveys available in the branch and on our website.

If you have any questions about these programs, or are interested in giving a presentation, please contact me at llarose@orl.bc.ca or call 250-344-6516.

Laura Larose is the Golden branch community librarian of the Okanagan Regional Library, located at 819 Park Dr., between the Golden Town Hall and the medical clinic.

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
