The library will be closed this Saturday in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Also known as Orange Shirt Day, this day is to acknowledge some of Canada’s most tragic history and to honour the children and families who are still dealing with the devastating legacy of residential schools.

Next week, we have “Let’s Draw!” our drop-in drawing program for adults and teens on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.; Baby and Toddler Time at 11 a.m. on Friday; Tween Club at 3:30 p.m. also on Friday; Story Time at 11 a.m. on Saturday; and LEGO Drop-In from 1 to 3 p.m. also Saturday.

For information on these or any other programs, please email me at llarose@orl.bc.ca or call the branch at 250-344-6516.

If you have any questions about these programs, or are interested in giving a presentation, please contact me at llarose@orl.bc.ca or call 250-344-6516.

This historical photo is of the Golden Arms Hotel. In its heyday it had a big restaurant, a banquet room, lounge, pub and lots of well-appointed rooms. Former Golden resident Krishan Mall, of Calgary, recently purchased the hotel and is having it torn down to make way for a new hotel. (Golden Museum and Archives)

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
  • A pretty great way to celebrate 25 years! 🎬🍿
