Bright colours paint the walls of the AGOG as we prepare for Golden local Trina Wolfenden’s exhibit, Colour Me Happy. Inspired by her work outdoors, Trina’s exhibit is a collection of acrylic paintings of landscapes in the Columbia Valley. Her work is bold and filled with bright colour to celebrate joy…the joy of the natural world… the joy of being an artist.
Born and raised in Golden, BC, Trina Wolfenden has always appreciated the incredible beauty of the Columbia Valley. A career in tourism enabled her to spread her love of the area with others. Showing guests around Golden has deepened her simple joy of nature.
“I am incredibly lucky to have an outdoor job where I get to see some of the valley’s most beautiful sights. This is a series of paintings from all of the recreation sites that I look after. I love adding bold and fun colours because I believe as an artist I can add my own joy into every piece I paint,” says artist Trina Wolfenden.
As an artist, Trina is drawn to acrylics. Acrylic paint, as a medium, works to amplify her excitement, drying as fast as she can paint. And the range of colour she experiments with comes through in her pieces. Versatility of the paints, as well, adds to her sense of creative freedom. You’ll see her work ranging from heavy body to fluid acrylics.
If you want bright colours to inspire your spring, come by the Art Gallery of Golden for this exhibit opening on Friday, May 1st, from 5 – 7 pm. You can dine on wine and cheese and visit with the artist.
