A compelling photography exhibit comes to AGOG! From June 5th to June 30th, work by Columbia Valley photographer Christopher Dehart will decorate the walls.
Heavily influenced by the beauty and power of the area he gets to call home, Dehart’s landscape photography is an exploration of the natural world that surrounds us, from mountain peaks to wetlands and everything in between.
As a proud member of the Shuswap Band, he grew up in the East Kootenay region and began his pursuit of photography in 2019 at the age of 14.
Wildlife was his first focus as it was a way to share with the world what he saw and what he loved. His lens gradually shifted towards landscape imagery, which is largely what you will see at AGOG in June.
The dedication that Dehart has to capturing the beauty of the natural world can be seen in his stunning photographs; it takes a lot of skill to be in the right place at the right time. As well, his editing style is always an imitation of how he remembers the moment he took the picture.
“I create to instil a sense of awe and adventure. I want my photos to inspire anyone who sees them to get out there and nurture their appreciation for this planet.” – Christopher DeHart
June is National Indigenous History Month, an important time to recognize and honour First Nations, Inuit and Métis People. It is a dedicated time to hear and celebrate their stories, voices and perspectives.
Come by the Art Gallery of Golden (516 9 Ave N, Golden) this month to celebrate this artist’s incredible work.
