Local Parson band, Long Gone Lonesomes, to play at Rockwater

Local Parson musical outfit Long Gone Lonesomes are comprised of Hylo Graves (Jesse Jobin) and Buddy Wackett (Ian Wackett). They formed in mid 2020 as a means of staying creative during the pandemic, with hopes of releasing two songs on the A and B sides of a 7 inch record. Those two songs turned into a full length album (Tall Tales) which was released in April 2021, with a follow up release in early 2023 titled – โ€œA Whisper, A Dying Breath, A Final Sighโ€.

Both albums found the ears of a small yet faithful following in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, thanks to the help of two rather favourable reviews in Rolling Stone Magazine (Germany), describing the strange country music as โ€œhaunted echo and ashen twangโ€.

Also receiving praise in Country Music People Magazine (UK), Big Kitty Magazine, and on the airwaves of college radio across North America the lonesome duo are happy with their small and supportive fan base saying – โ€œWe know weโ€™re not for everyone, but itโ€™s nice knowing we are just staying in our own lane, making the music we like on our own termsโ€.

Being fans of the vinyl format, pressing physical records was very important to the pair, so Buddy formed Shady Groove Recordings as a means to do so, while realizing the added benefit of working with chosen visual artists completing the vision of the work. Influenced by various elements such as sad songs, punk rock, hillbilly bop, electronic, horror movie tropes, rockabilly, gothic and other fringe components, Long Gone Lonesomes hold an interesting and wholly unique place under the country music umbrella.

Now with two full length albums, a 7โ€ single, a โ€œB sidesโ€ digital release with a third full length LP slated for release in early 2025 (all available at longgonelonesomes.bandcamp.com).

The Long Gone Lonesomes will be playing their first live show in Golden at the Rockwater Grill on Friday, October 4th, with guest Colin Shields. Doors open at 9:00 p.m. and the show will start at 10:00 p.m., tickets available at the Rockwater or via text (250) 272- 9225 for $15 or $20 at the door.

Now, 25 years later, itโ€™s time to celebrate!
