Our Annual General Meeting will follow this event, beginning at 12 pm. We’ll take a look back at 2023, vote in our new Board Directors, and put forward a refreshed set of bylaws for adoption by Special Resolution. Membership is required to vote, with dues by donation (sliding scale $0-10, pay what you can)!
Everyone is welcome! This event is open to all residents of Golden and Area A, our community partners, advocates, donors and supporters. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like at the food bank, this is a great time to stop by!
RSVP to help us reduce food waste! Registering will help us plan so that we don’t prepare too much or too little food.
Note: We are currently accepting volunteer applications for our Board of Directors. Learn more at https://www.goldenfoodbank.ca/workwithus.
The Golden Food Bank connects people with food, creating positive change for a hunger-free community. We help by providing low-barrier access to food, in an atmosphere of dignity and respect while collaborating with community partners to work towards food security.
What is a Golden Food Bank membership?
In BC, non-profit organizations are known as societies. Societies are independent, democratic organizations that are required to comply with the Societies Act and their own constitution and bylaws. Societies do not earn any profits for its members, as all money goes towards furthering the organization’s cause or goal.
Having an active membership is an important piece to receiving funding from community gaming grants and for our status as a charitable organization with the CRA. We are accountable to our members for our mission, activities, finances, accomplishments, and decision-making processes.
In short, becoming a member is a simple way that you can help strengthen local community organizations and support our cause!
