The Golden Museum will transform into a haunted attraction this Halloween as the Golden Secondary School Class of 2026 hosts Fright Night at the Museum, a spooky fundraiser in support of graduation and prom events.
The event was dreamed up by grad parents Mel Russell and Pam Michner, with help from Deanna Ure, the school’s grad parent coordinator for this year’s class, along with dozens of volunteers, community members, and grads who’ve worked tirelessly to bring the frightful fun to life.
This year’s haunt is a true community effort, with residents across Golden lending Halloween decorations, props, and special effects to create the most immersive experience yet.
Visitors begin their night by purchasing a train ticket at the museum entrance — $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under — with all proceeds supporting the Class of 2026. Additional donations and candy sales will also help raise funds.
Groups will be guided through a multi-stop haunted tour. The first stop leads to the Brisco School House, where spooky lessons await. A few members from the A-Muse Troupe will be on the grounds, lending their fire twirling to the ambiance.
Then it’s off through the Haunted Forest, where brave passengers may encounter the ghostly Captain Patrick, who once sailed the steam paddlewheeler up and down the Columbia River. His spirit will share tales from Golden’s early days — with a few eerie twists.
The final destination is the old CPR train station, where visitors must present their tickets to the “Ticketmaster” before entering the haunted maze filled with historic rail artifacts and ghoulish surprises.
Fright Night at the Golden Museum runs October 24–25 and October 30–31 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at 1302 11th Ave. South.
This is a cash-only event, and every scare helps celebrate the grads of 2026.
