Help Save the Golden, BC, 2025 Christmas Tree Light-Up!

in Local Entertainment

Hello! Natasha here from Vibrant Events & Rentals, your local go-to event rental company. We are a proud partner to the Holiday Kick-Off put on by Silver City Events & Entertainment, and we are here to ask you to HELP US SAVE THE BIG TREE LIGHT UP 2025!

In 2023, Silver City began lighting the big tree in Spirit Square as a symbol of the beginning of the holiday season, making this a community shared event. This tradition carried on into 2024, and was hopeful for this year, making it the 3rd year for light up. The community has loved this effort!

Silver City puts in a great amount of work each year to change lighting effects daily throughout the holidays and ensures our parade goes off without a hitch, the very same evening as the light up! We thank Public Works for hanging the lights for us, and we thank the Town of Golden for funding both 2023 and 2024 light-ups!

Unfortunately, though, the lights have been damaged over both years, resulting in significant financial costs in replacing the lights. Due to these damages, it was considered that town funding is best allotted to other festivities and town decorations.

With the recent announcement of no light up, we recognized the sadness in losing a potential tradition. Soon, there was an outpouring of donation offers and support from the community, which is why we decided to launch a fundraiser for our vibrant community for crowdfunding to save the lights!

We plan to buy new lights and beef them up to withstand longer durations of time, with less damage, and to ensure we can save the tradition for many years to come.

The goals we have are as follows!

• Light Replacements: $1500

• Upgrades for Lighting Cables (to hopefully prevent breakage over this season and keep lights strong for 2026): $500-$750

Additionally, any funds over the minimum goals will go to ensuring Santa Claus arrives in Golden for the day of the festivities for kids’ photos, as well as supplies for kids’ crafts, Santa letters and more prior to the parade! We recognize the ever-growing family populations and want to offer more for this community!

We would love to see the holiday festivities keep our town local. LETS LIGHT UP THIS TREE TOGETHER <3

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!
