The Golden Pride Festival (GPF) hosted by the Golden Pride Society (GPS) is back for a full month of celebration this June, bringing together 2SLGBTQIA+ community members, families, allies, performers, and local businesses for the town’s most colourful and inclusive festival of the year.
With events running throughout June, this year’s festival highlights visibility, creativity, and connection across generations.
Celebrations begin on June 1 with the official festival launch and the unveiling of a newly installed Pride-themed park bench in the Pocket Park located in downtown Golden, B.C.
The Pocket Park Pride bench symbolizes the Town of Golden’s ongoing commitment to inclusion and belonging in public spaces.
Executive Director for the Golden Pride Society, Molly King, says, “Visibility matters.”
“Creating visible LGBTQ+ spaces in our downtown sends a clear message: everyone belongs here. When people see themselves reflected in public spaces like our pocket park and rainbow bench, it builds a stronger, more welcoming community for everyone,” King says.
Crafternoon & Drag Story Hour will take place at the Golden Library on June 6 & 7 with special guests, Drag Performer, Rita Story, and GPS Board Member, Jennifer Savage, leading events. Crafternoon is an inclusive art-making and storytelling activity for all ages with the theme of kindness. It is planned to be a hands-on, creative afternoon session celebrating diversity, self-expression, and community connection. Drag Story Hour is a joyful, family-friendly storytelling experience that uplifts imagination, literacy, and inclusive representation.
These events offer welcoming spaces for families, youth, and community members to celebrate Pride through art, stories, and shared experiences.
The Pride Festival Party in Spirit Square, being held on June 13, will bring community artists together to celebrate and raise the Pride Flag.
The signature community event, the Pride Festival Party, takes place on Thursday, June 13, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM in Spirit Square. This free, family-friendly celebration features:
• Live performances by Finni Jobin, Pablo Euphoria, Golden Aerials, A-Muse Troupe and the Cabaret Company will be there to entertain and celebrate.
• Community booths, activities, and art-engagement spaces.
• Music, dancing, and opportunities for all ages to participate.
Evening Events are planned at the Rockwater Grill and Bar to continue festivities, featuring:
• Adults Only Drag Cabaret presented by the Cabaret Company and an All-Ages Karaoke party earlier in the evening.
These evening events offer a vibrant, welcoming space for adults to celebrate Pride with music, performance, and community connection.
The Golden Pride Festival continues to grow each year, reflecting the community’s dedication to creating safe, joyful, and expressive spaces for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and allies.
