Golden will be centre ice this March when the Golden Minor Hockey Association hosts the U18 BC Hockey Tier 4 Championships, bringing high-level provincial competition to town and showcasing local athletes on a big stage.
The Golden Rockets U18 team earned the right to host the championships after a season of steady growth and strong teamwork, according to Golden & District Minor Hockey. The event is expected to draw visiting teams, families, and hockey fans from across the province, providing a welcome boost for local businesses while highlighting Golden’s capacity to host major sporting events.
In advance of the tournament, the association has launched an online silent auction fundraiser to help offset hosting costs. The auction runs from January 25 at 5 a.m. to February 5 at 5 p.m., with dozens of donated items up for bid. Community members are encouraged to participate and support local youth hockey.
Organizers say the championships are about more than hockey. They’re a chance to rally the community, recognize the efforts of volunteers, and show what a small town can do when it comes together. More information and auction access can be found at 32auctions.com/u18provincials.
