About Kicking Horse Culture

Kicking Horse Culture contributes to the vibrant community of the Golden area, with a population of approximately 7,000+, known collectively as Kicking Horse Country. KHC pays homage to the rich history of the area and its people, the cultural life of kicking horse country, through community arts activities and collaborative partnerships. Live Kicks, Summer Kicks and Movie Kicks are the main initiatives under which most of the mountain culture programs are delivered.

Supported by the Town of Golden and Columbia Shuswap Regional District Area ‘A’, KHC assumes a pivotal role in the community, fostering collaborative partnerships to offer diverse cultural programs, arts education, and community activities. Our goal is to curate inclusive and varied programming that celebrates local traditions, enriches our sense of place, and contributes to making Golden a vibrant place for residents and visitors alike.

Additionally, on behalf of the Town of Golden, KHC oversees the operations of the newly renovated Golden Civic Centre, a hub for our concert performances and various community events such as meetings, camps, weddings, and clubs.

The Art Gallery of Golden & Studio Gift Shop (AGOG) showcases and offers for sale an array of unique art and hand-crafted gifts from over 150 regional artists hailing from the Golden region and the Columbia River Basin. Step inside our gallery at 516 9th Ave N in downtown Golden, BC, to peruse our collection of exquisite art pieces and locally crafted gifts that bring joy to everyday life while supporting the community through this arts centre.

About Golden, BC Canada

Golden, British Columbia, Canada is located near Yoho National Park, along the Trans-Canada Highway at the base of the Kicking Horse Pass, and where the Kicking Horse River meets the Columbia River. It is also home to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and Golden Skybridge.

A small mountain town, Golden is a place that offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and laid-back charm. Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Golden is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and endless opportunities for exploration.

One of the main draws to this charming town is its proximity to six national parks. Just a short drive away, visitors can experience the stunning beauty of the park’s mountains, waterfalls, and pristine lakes. After a day of adventure, visitors can unwind at one of Golden’s many restaurants or cafes. Local cuisine is highlighted by fresh seafood from nearby lakes and rivers as well as locally sourced meats and produce. And for those looking to sample some local brews, Golden has its own craft brewery offering up unique flavours all year – Whitetooth Brewing Company.
