EmberFest 2025: Reflections on our amazing volunteers

EmberFest went off like magical sparks in Spirit Square on February 15th, with a massive crowd gathered to watch the community pageant and enjoy live music throughout the night. It was a whirl of whimsy, art, and community and carried on a 19-year tradition of celebrating winter and the changing of seasons in Golden.

Around the bonfire, community members shared their handmade creatures, costumes, art and performances. This year we shared the story of our community and celebrated the rejuvenating powers of change! Behind the scenes, the hands of many volunteers kept the production wheels turning smoothly.

The spirit of this festival can be seen in the hard work and dedication of these community members who are so willing to contribute their time and energy to create an experience for the community. Without them, EmberFest simply could not happen.

  • Flashback Friday 📰 Fall 2001!

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
  • A pretty great way to celebrate 25 years! 🎬🍿

The Princess Bride, popcorn, hot chocolate and a beautiful evening spent outside together.

Thanks to the Golden & District Community for hosting such a fun night!

  • 30 logging trucks, all coming together for a special tribute🌲

It’s not something you often see making its way through town — the trucks normally hard at work in the bush. But when the industry loses one of its own, the community makes the time.

A quiet but powerful display of just how significant the forestry industry is, and the kind of community we have here.
