Grants available: Funding for arts and culture

Do you have an idea for a project that focuses on arts and culture? Grants from the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance (CKCA) could help.

These grantsโ€”funded by Columbia Basin Trust and managed by the West Kootenay Regional Arts Councilโ€”are available for all art disciplines, for both individuals and arts and culture organizations in the Columbia Basin.

THE APPLICATION PERIOD IS NOW OPEN

CKCAโ€™s current application period closes on February 21, 2025, or March 7, 2025, depending on the program. To learn about each program and apply, go to www.wkartscouncil.com

Whatโ€™s different this year?

We simplified the name of the program Arts Funding to Communities; now, itโ€™s called Community Grants. Note that the deadline for this program is February 21, 2025.

All other program applications are due March 7, 2025.

We adjusted the focus of the program that was formerly called Major Project Arts & Culture. Now, itโ€™s called Major Projects. Major Projects funding is available to support individual artists or artist groups and collectives in the execution of projects to create artistic works, bodies of work, arts and culture performances, events or projects on a major scale.

Non-profit organizations proposing large-scale projects should apply under Arts Evolution.

Q&A SESSIONS

To learn more about these grants and how to apply, attend one of our FREE question-and-answer sessions. The events all take place online through Zoom.

Before you attend a session, we encourage you to watch the video about the specific program youโ€™re considering applying to. To find the video, select the program that interests you and navigate to that programโ€™s page. Afterwards, come to the Q&A session with your questions.

If you have questions about your specific project, rather than the programs themselves, contact us directly instead of asking them during a session.

FUNDING PROGRAMS

If you have an idea that focuses on arts and culture, this program could help support it. Grants from the Columbia Kootenay Cultural Alliance (CKCA)โ€”funded by Columbia Basin Trust and managed by the West Kootenay Regional Arts Councilโ€”are available for all art disciplines, for both individuals and arts and culture organizations.

Individuals and organizations must be based in the Columbia Basin region: see the map at https://www.wkartscouncil.com/map/

Applications for the 2025/26 intake opened January 13, 2025, and close February 21, 2025, or March 7, 2025, depending on the program.

Browse the programs online to learn more about each granting program.

SUPPORT FOR LOCAL ARTS COUNCILS

The region that we serve: the Columbia Basin. (Click on the image to view a larger version.)

As the regional arts council for the Kootenays, we support a thriving arts, culture and heritage sector and act as a catalyst to build capacity throughout the creative ecology. By convening the cultural sector and offering a comprehensive suite of programs to strengthen the regional arts community, we look to a future where the Kootenay region is recognized for its world-class arts and culture.

We do this by assisting those involved in arts, culture and heritage so they can carry out their activities more effectively through support like training, consultation and communication about resources available throughout the region and province.
