Golden’s first annual Latin festival, which was held at the Golden Riverfront Campground in Nicholson, was well received by the community. Serving up authentic food and drinks, it was an authentic nod to the ever-growing local Latin community.
There were empanada rolling and tortilla making workshops, various types of dance lessons and a vendor market. The night ended with a live music party, which gave attendees a chance to test out their newly learned skills.

Here is what event organizer Jessie Paloposki, owner of Mamacita’s Empanadas, had to say about the event. “Big thanks to the community for their support. One of the biggest things we noticed in organizing this event is the number of Latinos in our community. This really felt like an opportunity to showcase the hard workers we have here in our community, who are often found working behind the scenes in the hospitality industry.
And a reminder of why we wanted to do this event in the first place – the whole reason we started our business – to share good food, with good people, and have good times. We’ve always had the vision of giving back to the community – this is our way of giving back. Our vision is: Juntos es Mejor (Together is Better). At Mamacita’s Empanadas, we embody a juntos es mejor culture: value multiculturalism, foster diversity, and love people always.

A big thank you to our volunteers – the dance instructors, workshop hosts, kitchen and bar, and Diego & the Gringos (local talent who played for free!), as well as our sponsors, Mamacia’s Empanadas, Golden Riverfront Campground and the local businesses who donated door prizes and volunteer gifts.”
We are looking forward to seeing what they plan next year for the Fiesta Dorada!
