Barbecues, mini-golf, farmers’ markets and more: 2023 Canada Day in Golden

Golden BC Canada Day events

Every year, the Town of Golden compiles a list of free community-organized events for Canada Day in Golden, BC.

This year, there will be a wide range of activities for people of all ages organized by the town, as well as other privately held events.

The earliest start time for this year’s events is Golden Fire-Rescue’s pancake breakfast and BBQ lunch, which kicks off at 8 a.m. This year, the fire department will celebrate its 125th anniversary along with Canada Day.

In addition to breakfast and lunch, the event will include demonstrations, an obstacle course, games, a display of the fire trucks, and an open house in the fire hall.

The Golden Farmers’ Market will hold its Canada Day event at 10 a.m. The market, which is typically open every Wednesday at Spirit Square, will be held across the river at the Golden Museum. It will remain open until 3 p.m.

In addition to the market, the Golden Museum will host games, live music, cake, and snacks from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The Golden Team Redline Car Show also returns this year and will be held downtown, accompanied by a Rotary BBQ from noon to 3 p.m.

The swimming pool will be open on Canada Day and has public swim times available from 12 to 5 p.m.

The general public is encouraged to reserve their spots online before their visits.

The Golden Golf Club will host free mini-golf at their site all day; booking a tee time in advance is not required to participate.

In addition to events arranged by the town, the Golden Skybridge Summer Concert Series will continue on Canada Day with a performance by Skye Wallace.

A notable omission from this year’s plans is the annual Canada Day fireworks show.

According to the town, this decision was made proactively based on annual wildfire risks and community feedback about the effects of fireworks on wildlife and pets.

The day’s events will affect the following streets: 9th Avenue North, 5th Street North and 11th Avenue South.

The town encourages residents to take active transportation options such as walking or bicycling.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!
