Golden and District Search and Rescue received funding through the Allen Williams Memorial Fund to purchase a gasoline-powered generator to ensure critical equipment and infrastructure remain operable during power outages. The fund was created to support the efforts of local rescue services. James Martin with GADSAR said the generator will stay at the base operations in Golden, located on Fisher Road.
During a power outage, the generator will ensure our critical equipment and infrastructure remain operable. This includes, but is not limited to, radio communication devices, internet servers and batteries for our essential medical equipment,โ said Martin.
Operating the pieces of infrastructure is crucial to GADSARโs ability to respond quickly and effectively to rescue calls from the province.
โIn addition to aiding in our emergency response capabilities, maintaining our communications and internet service will enable GADSAR to act as a local command center in the event of an extended power outage. This would allow GADSAR to stay at the forefront of emergencies and plan accordingly. โ
The Allen Williams Memorial Fund provides financial assistance to projects or activities promoting search and rescue capabilities in Golden and area.
