By now, I’ve talked a decent amount about food and my adoration for it, I am a foodie after all. While I do love all types of food, brunch has always had a special place in my heart! It’s meant to be served in the later morning (which allows me the option to sleep in), usually starts with a warm beverage and features potatoes, what’s not to love. I guess it’s not surprising that it’s one of mine and my families favourite types of get together!

There are tons of great local spots to grab brunch (or breakfast for you early birds) in town, but the one I’m going to talk about today is the Whitetooth Mountain Bistro, which we shorten to “the Bistro”. My crowd and I have gathered here many a time to gab and gossip over lattes and our meals of choice. It’s especially great if you score one of the cabanas at the back, the coveted spot to yourself.

Everyone starts with a coffee or latte, while I opt for a Tropical Fog. We may not be anywhere near a beach, but this sweet cup of warmth is a welcoming start to the day and a perfect option for my fellow tea lovers. It’s bombay chai tea mixed with coconut & vanilla bean steamed milk, you can almost hear the waves crashing when you drink it! They also usually have mimosas on special as well if you’re celebrating (or still recovering from the night before).

Now comes the hard decision, trying to decide what to order. You have two routes you can go, either choose your favourite go-to or whatever you’re craving the day in question. My current favourite is the Lost French Toast – 2 thick slices of french loaf bread with whipped Nutella cream cheese, but make it crunchy, which means they coat it in a cornflakes crust and fry it. It’s definitely a good choice for the sugar lovers, even though it’s not overly sweet.

Another favourite of mine is their Huevos Rancheros, a great option if you’re wanting something savoury. It features friend corn tortillas, roasted corn salsa, diced tomatoes and sunny side eggs on a bed of hasbrowns, topped with a cheese blend and then oven baked. I like it as something that’s outside of the norm, sometimes you want something different than eggs and toast.
Then you have classic options like Eggs Your Way, Breakfast Poutine, Granola & Yogurt, two different Breakfast Bagel options (smoked salmon lox or bacon & egg), and Breakfast Quesedilla. Not to mention they have six different eggs benedict options to choose from! If you don’t order something topped with hollandaise, you’ll want to order a portion on the side to dip your hashbrowns into.

Their breakfast menu is available from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. It tends to be busy on the weekend during the skiing season, so we always try to go first thing in the morning to be sure we get a table!
