Kicking Horse Ford’s service bay turned into a classroom last Thursday night as the dealership hosted a return to the “Ladies Under the Hood” workshop series, a free hands-on clinic aimed at helping women feel more confident with basic vehicle maintenance.
The session filled quickly, and participants spent the evening learning from local presenters Lena Spicer, Golden Secondary School’s (GSS) shop teacher, and her assistant for the evening, Brooklyn Dober, who delivered clear, practical instruction and plenty of time for questions. Dober is a grade 12 student at GSS.
The Kicking Horse Ford team handled setup, support, and cleanup, while participants listened in a classroom-style workshop with printed lessons to take home.
Halfway through the evening, attendees were served coffee and refreshments before beginning the second half, with a practical demonstration on a vehicle.
It was a fun and educational evening, and some even took home a few prizes.
Interest was strong enough that the final few spots disappeared well before the workshop began, with more inquiries for additional events.
Given the response, the dealership has already confirmed a Part Two coming this spring, continuing the push to give local drivers more confidence on winter roads and mountain passes.
The event was designed as community outreach, with optional donations supporting the Golden Women’s Resource Centre. Contributions over twenty dollars are eligible for tax receipts, and organizers say every bit goes straight back into local programs.
