The Bantam Girls Basketball team lit up the court on January 30 and 31 as they proudly hosted their home tournament—a spirited two-day showcase of teamwork, determination, and hometown pride. From the opening tipoff to the final buzzer, the gym was alive with energy as the girls demonstrated grit, sportsmanship, and impressive growth in their game.

What made the event truly special was the way the community rallied behind these young athletes. Families and friends gathered in the stands, cheering with enthusiasm and celebrating every rebound, fast break, and hard-earned basket. The tournament wasn’t just about competition—it was a reminder of how sport brings people together and how deeply this community believes in its youth.  Thanks to Jaffray and Invermere, who travelled up to participate.

A Heartfelt ThankYou to Our Donors

Events like this don’t happen without generous support, and the Bantam Girls team is deeply grateful for the organizations and individuals who stepped up to make the tournament a success. Their contributions helped provide refreshments and the welcoming atmosphere that made the weekend memorable for players and spectators alike.

With sincere appreciation, we thank:

• Golden Log Truckers Association – for their commitment to youth athletics and community development.

• Golden Senior Youth Basketball Association – whose dedication to growing the sport continues to open doors for young players.

• Great Canadian Heliskiing – for supporting local youth and helping elevate the tournament experience.

• Daley Bakery – for keeping players and coaches fueled with fresh, delicious treats.

• Golden Bakery – for their generous contributions and community spirit.

• Kay Nagao – for her amazing earrings made to order.

• The Golden Bottle Depot – for helping ensure grassroots sports remain accessible and well-supported.

More Than a Tournament

Beyond the scores and standings, the tournament was a celebration of effort, learning, and the joy of playing the game. The Bantam Girls showed tremendous heart, representing their school and community with pride. Their teamwork and resilience were evident in every game, and their growth as athletes was unmistakable.

As the season continues, the momentum from this home tournament will carry them forward—stronger, more confident, and inspired by the community that stands behind them.

Here’s to the Bantam Girls Basketball team, their coaches, their families, and the incredible supporters who make moments like this possible. The future of girls’ basketball in Golden is bright, and this tournament was a shining example of what can happen when a community comes together to lift its young athletes.
