Town of Golden by Town of Golden
July 8, 2026
in News

The Town of Golden’s next municipal election will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026.

Residents will vote to elect one mayor and six councillors to Town Council, as well as three school trustees for School District No. 6.

“Municipal elections are an important opportunity for residents to have a direct impact on their community,” said Dawn Attorp, Chief Election Officer for the Town of Golden. “We encourage all eligible voters to take part and help shape the future of Golden.”

Town Council makes decisions that affect residents’ daily lives, including roads and infrastructure, parks and recreation programs, bylaws, annual budgets and property tax rates, and essential services such as clean drinking water and fire protection.

Residents can stay informed about the 2026 municipal election by following the Town of Golden on social media @TownofGolden on Facebook and Instagram or by visiting www.golden.ca/2026election.

Residents interested in running in the upcoming municipal election are invited to attend a pre-election Candidate Information Session on Wednesday, July 22 at 7 p.m. at the Whitetooth Brewery.

The session will feature a panel discussion bringing together senior administration and experienced elected officials, who will share insights on how local government operates, what it’s like to serve on Council, and what prospective candidates can expect throughout the nomination and election process. A facilitated discussion and Q&A will give attendees the opportunity to ask questions and gain practical, first-hand knowledge.

“If you’ve ever thought about running for Council, this is a great place to start,” said Alysha Saville, Director of Corporate Services & Communications. “We’re bringing together experienced voices to share what the role is really like and answer questions in an open, approachable setting.”

Event details:

• Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2026

• Time: 7 p.m.

• Location: Whitetooth Brewery

The information session is open to all members of the public, and no registration is required. Those considering candidacy, as well as anyone interested in learning more about local government, are encouraged to attend.
