kicking horse mountain resort

Summer kicks off at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort on May 31, and we’re ready to welcome you back for a season of adventure! Come say hi to Boo the Bear, catch a ride up the Catamount Chair for spectacular views of the Columbia Valley and Rocky Mountains, and enjoy the early days of summer in the mountains.

What’s Opening Saturday, May 31:

• Grizzly Bear Refuge Ranger Assist Program (daily, bookings required)

• Catamount Chairlift for sightseeing and access to the Grizzly Bear Refuge (Friday to Monday)

• Base Area Services including Whitetooth Grill, Guest Services, and Outfitters Retail Store (Friday to Monday)

• Mountain Biking will be available from the top of the Catamount Chair once conditions permit

• See the Hours of Operation for full details

Golden Eagle Express Update

The review into the Golden Eagle Express Gondola incident remains ongoing. Since the hanger-arm was the component involved, and as part of our commitment to safety, all gondola cabin hanger-arms will be replaced with newly manufactured parts. The order has been placed with the lift manufacturer, with delivery expected in the second half of July.

Upon opening, the gondola will provide access to:

• Via Ferrata tours

• Alpine mountain biking and hiking

• Mountaintop sightseeing

• Eagle’s Eye Restaurant lunch service at 7,700 feet

Looking Ahead to Winter

2025/26 Season Passes Coming Soon

We’re excited to share that our 2025/26 Season Pass lineup is almost ready! Our annual Early Bird Sale will be launching soon—stay tuned for full details.

Ski Run Mowing, Summer Brushing, and Terrain Modification

This summer, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort will conduct a comprehensive mowing and brushing program to remove small trees and brush that have started to reclaim many lower mountain areas. Work will focus from the top of the Pioneer Chairlift down across the mountain, allowing us to open more runs earlier in the season with minimal snow coverage. In addition, we will undertake major terrain modification on two lower mountain runs — Porcupine and Wapiti — to enhance the ski experience and further support earlier seasonal openings. Stay tuned for updates as this work progresses over the summer.

We look forward to welcoming you back for a memorable mountain summer.

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
