One of Canada’s most revered vocal trios, Good Lovelies are hitting the road in support of their latest Juno-nominated album, We Will Never Be The Same.

Musically, the 2024 JUNO-nominated album hearkens back to the band’s acoustic, rootsy beginnings 18 years ago. Lyrically, the songs created by the Juno Award-winning ensemble of Kerri Ough, Sue Passmore and Caroline Marie Brooks are as compelling as the dynamic and engaging vocal harmonies for which the group is known as they mine the complex feelings experienced by women who have come to ponder some of the big questions of life.

“In comparing it with the records we’ve done before, I feel like this was one of our most collaborative writing experiences. This was the first time we went away together – we retreated for a full week for the sole purpose of throwing everything on the table. Even if one of us brought in a song that was close to fully formed, we were all [including producers Christine Bougie and Joshua Van Tassel] involved as a team by the time it was done and dusted,” says Passmore.

It is an admirable addition to their widely acclaimed musical catalogue which already includes six full-length studio albums (two of which are Christmas releases with a flavour of nostalgia), four EPs and a live album.

“This is a jewel & their musicianship validates their impeccable show.” – Americana Highways

“If you are a fan of the Wailin’ Jennies, Ward Thomas, or First Aid Kit, you are likely to find plenty to enjoy here”. – Americana UK

Their long career has brought them to concert venues across North America and overseas to the U.K., Europe and Australia. Currently touring as a trio, the group have adapted the album arrangements beautifully with acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, keyboard, bass and percussion. There are moments of lush instrumentation contrasted by moments of acoustic simplicity which weave together a beautiful arc throughout the show. Between numbers the trio also take it in turn to interact with the audience, sharing personal stories, little anecdotes, and lighthearted banter, offering a great mix of humour and intimacy.

This November, Mia Kelly of Gatineau, Quebec will be opening the show. Mia writes and performs in both French and English, enthralling listeners with a distinctive blend of Folk, Rock, and Blues. Mia is an imaginative storyteller who channels her raw and vulnerable emotions through her expertly crafted songs – her talents recently earned her the distinctions of Young Performer of the Year and Emerging Artist of the Year at the 2024 Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Join the Good Lovelies and Mia Kelly on November 13th at the Golden Civic Centre for their concert, presented by Kicking Horse Culture.
