Golden! Wondering what’s been happening up at the Edelweiss Village + Resort lately? Come see for yourself at the inaugural Guide Days Folkfest this fall, coming up on October 18th and 19th!

This community-based event is all about reconnecting locals with the historic Edelweiss Village, which has recently undergone major renovations.

It’s also a chance to learn about the legendary Swiss mountain guides who helped shape our region — and, most importantly, to have a great time doing it!

Enjoy a weekend packed with live music from local musicians, alphorn and yodelling performances, authentic Swiss food by Valbella Gourmet Foods from Canmore, and a beer garden serving up cold beverages. Families will love the giant bouncy castle, face painting, games, and ice cream treats!

The full schedule and tickets are now available! General admission is FREE for all ages and includes access to tons of family-friendly fun.

Want to elevate your experience? Don’t miss the traditional pig roast dinner happening on Saturday night, followed by a live music show featuring The Frontiers with special guest Curtis Butala.

“The community’s response so far has been amazing. A big thank-you to our sponsors, who’ve provided the foundation to make this local event possible. We can’t wait to welcome and entertain the Golden community this fall!” says Monika Yaxley, Guide Days Co-Founder.

Take a look back at these archival pages from the Golden Star and Golden News about the Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge.

Built in 2001 by volunteer timber framers and locals, this iconic bridge is Canada’s longest freestanding timber-frame structure and a true symbol of community connection.

Now, 25 years later, it’s time to celebrate!

Join us at Spirit Square tomorrow evening (Saturday, Sept 26) to celebrate the 25th anniversary. See you there, Golden!
